Frequently Asked Questions

Below you find a list of FAQs, however, if any of your questions are not answered, please feel free to get in touch with us or meet us for a coffee to discuss how we can help you.

How long does it take?

This really depends on various aspects such as the size of your project, the complexity and your deadline. Based on a good chat with you to scope out your project, we will draft a detailed project plan outlining estimated timelines, project milestones and target dates. You will receive regular project status updates as we move through the project phases. Most of our projects range from 2-9 weeks in time. We can generally make a start on a new project within 2 weeks.

How much will it cost?

Every project has different needs, every client has a different budget. Each website we create is custom designed and individual - tailored to your needs and brand personality. After a detailed project scoping chat, we'll present a proposal to you outlining the cost of your project. We work transparently so you won't get charged extra for anything you don't need; allowing us to offer affordable and competitive pricing.

How do you handle payments?

We take a 10% deposit for all new client projects. 35% is payable on delivery of the website design concept, with the remaining balance payable on project completion. On longer term projects we can set up a more specific payment schedule, making it work for the both of us.

How do you work? What's your process?

Each project is shaped by specific personalities, goals, requirements, budgets, schedules and technology. Our proven workflow of 'structured creativity' reduces bureaucracy and allows us to focus on your needs. With this in mind, we adopt a flexible process of planning, information architecture, creative brainstorming, prototyping, production and testing to fit your needs. Our process supports you through the whole project lifecycle, from the initial idea to developing a sound strategy for the future. We work closely with our clients (every step of the way) to craft your online experience. Our aim is to deliver not just a good end user experience, but a good client experience throughout your entire project. Oh, and we don't employ layers of project managers; you'll be dealing directly with your designer; no geek talk, just plan and simple English. Read more about our process.

Do you redesign existing websites?

Yes we do. If your existing website needs a facelift, if you have outgrown your site, or you if have changed company direction, we can help you. In fact, we love redesigning websites to improve and better craft your online experience - either retaining your company style or we can give you a fresh new image.

I only need a small website. Do you take on small projects?

We all started out small (and as they say, small is the new big) - so yes, we would love to work with you.

Do you work with start-ups?

Absolutely. Starting up a new business is very exciting! Our clients are primarily small and start-up businesses from pretty much all walks of life and industries. Why not get in touch to discuss how we can help.

I am based outside the UK. Do you work with international clients?

Yes. We're based in good old England, but we've worked with people outside the UK - in different time zones and languages - although having a coffee together might have to be a virtual one. If a face to face meeting is not possible, we hold Skype video chats, which prove just as successful. Please contact us and we'll work something out.

What happens if I do not like the design?

For a start, we do not use templated, off-the-shelve website formats. Each website we design is based on your needs and your brand personality. Before we start anything that creates, evolves or reshapes your digital footprint, we get to know you - that's really important to us. We take an iterative approach in putting the pieces together, refining ideas, letting the design concept develop and take shape. Read what our clients say...

Do you participate in spec work?

No. We don't participate in spec work, which means that we can focus on tangible projects.

Can you help with website hosting?

Yes we can. We know that choosing a suitable web hosting provider can be a daunting task. We work with an industry-leading web hosting provider offering powerful and flexible web hosting plans perfect for websites of all sizes. If you already have web hosting in place, great, we can go with your provider of choice. We have also put together a guide to web hosting.

Can you help me with website updates after my site has gone live?

We're available for ongoing support to update and maintain your website if required. We offer a flexible aftercare service - as and when needed. Our website aftercare service fee is charged in 15 minute time blocks, so you don't have to pay out of your nose for those quick updates. After your new website has been unleashed on the interwebs, we can also help you deepen your understanding of your online audience, get found in the search engines and integrate online marketing to build your web strategy.

I may also need some other stuff...

Something you need we haven’t listed? Just ask. The chances are it is well within the scope of our creative capabilities but we don’t like to brag.... We think it is important to be able to help you with everything from establishing your online strategy to designing your website and promoting it. This is why we have also formed trusted partnerships with a small group of creative people from diverse backgrounds: visual artists, developers, wordsmiths, planners and thinkers who share a love for creative design, technology, graphic design, storytelling and a desire to make great things - from business cards and printed stationary to copywriting, or digital media.
